Monday

It's a WRAP.. At LAST!

So here HE sits, a week and a half after our return, finally finding time to get to this wrap up.

It has been a bit hectic around Casa d’ Chaos, with Greg and Cristina's schedules getting a little NUTZ, post break Homework chaos [the Florida Standard Assesment {FSA} tests loom ahead], impromptu sleep-overs, off schedule Family dinners and a bit of Uncle Chuck’s business taking precedent.
Hey, he's gotta pay for this little trip somehow, the Piggy Bank has been a bit strained since their last trip.  Not that he’s complaining, just trying to keep it all in the budget.

But First, foremost and MOST importantly: A BIG LEAGUE THANK YOU, to Danny and Angie McGlynn for letting us invade their beautiful home and showing us a spectacular time.  We'll never forget your kindness and generosity. And lunch next to the East Wing wasn't too Shabby either!

Dave and Jon are still talking about spending Mucho Fun Tyme with Daniel and Michael McGlynn and how great it was seeing D.C. with them... and the video games... and S’Mores on the Deck and… and… and…
Somehow Jon seems to think he’s going back for the summer and we didn’t have the heart to tell him right now that Daniel and Michael’s Cousins are scheduled for a summer visit so the logistics don’t fit.
Besides Danny and Angie need a break from all the recent tumult.

But, Abuela says there may be a side trip to NYC [another thing on their wish list... “Oh Papa, Can We Go… Puleeze… Puleeze… Puleeze?!?] after they get back from Colombia  and just before school starts.
Ok… Ok… We’ll see.

Next,  we know that many of you, rather than take time from your reruns of Game of Thrones or neighborhood Ma Jong game to read every post as they come, prefer to wait till the end to curl up with a bottle of your favorite red or white and binge read the adventure in order.  So for those that are actually paying attention, you'll note that all the posts are now in chronological order.

Another change in this NOWAT, commented on by several of you, was that we haven't inserted photos along the way due the time constraints and posting schedule as it was.
OK... OK... he didn't have time to sort and clean up the Pics, those late nights and Great Merlot/Cabernet Blends may have had something to do with that.
Sooooo...… all the pics of this little sojourn are now posted on the NOWAT Photo Album website, just click on the link at the top of the page that says: Dave & Jon Do D.C.

So what did we learn, see, do etc in D.C.?
Welllll most of it was highlighted in the daily posts with Blue Links to more details than we included.  Thus a full recap as in the past would only be redundant at this point.  And, since this was not the usual Wacky American Tourist jaunt, rather a chance to bond with Da Boyz and expose them to Some History etc. along the way [Dinosaurs notwithstanding] there are no HOT TIPS for what to do, see, etc. that you can’t find online.

Suffice it to say it was Trip of a Lifetime for all of us, being able to experience Our Nation’s Capital up close and personal with our two Wide Eyed little travelers, and especially for Chucky who marveled at how much history he remembered about most of the monuments and stops along the way.

The long and short of it is, if ya haven’t done D.C. Ya GOTTA, just once. There is so much to see and do, even a week isn't enough time given our scheduling hiccups and changes on the fly.
Chucky and DL may try to get back for some of what we didn’t get to see on the way to Philadelphia next year to visit some of his CUZ’s [before we are all to old to remember what the other looks like] and check out the recently completed Museum of the American Revolution. [Chucky’s MOST Favorite part or our history].  Heck he might even drag Da Boyz along for part of that trip as there is sooooo much history in that area. Time will Tell, and of course…
So will HE when that time rolls around.

Oh, and  Hey... stay tuned for the NEXT ***ALERT*** in the very near future. [Can we talk about this yet Donna? NO? .... Ok...]
Sooooo you'll just have to wait to find out where their off to this summer.  [Are you sure we cant even hint Donna? Alright.. Alright!] He'll just have to wait 'til June [Ooooppps... Sorry D] to start this process all over again.

And lastly Dear Hearts and [by now] not so Innocent Bystanders, coming to the end of another of the exploits of the Wacky American Tourist and the Ever-Lovely Dragon Lady, we lovingly offer our traditional NOWAT Benediction:

Work like you don’t need the money.
Love like you’ve never been hurt.
Dance like nobody’s watching.
And during life's darkest moments remember
The 4 most important words in any language:
"This Too Shall Pass!"

Now, where did I leave that Scotch…

Ciao 4 Now

  1. Fabulous trip and blog! American History is my passion so I loved all of your posts! Washington D.C. is one of my favorite cities...along with the outskirt history places...I still need to get back to the WWII Memorial! It would be great to meet you there if you decide to do it without the youngsters!
